Identity Theft Prevention

What you should know

If you believe your Policemen’s FCU account information has been compromised by cybercriminals, please contact us immediately at (574) 234-1524. Follow the steps below for a thorough financial security checkup:

  • Review Your Credit Reports
Check your credit reports from all three major credit bureaus for any inaccuracies or unusual activity. You can find information on how to obtain your credit reports here.

  • Place Fraud Alerts on Your Credit Reports
If you notice any inaccuracies on your credit report, contact the credit grantor or file a dispute. To place a fraud alert, reach out to Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion for assistance.

  • Close Fraudulent Accounts
If you see any accounts on your credit report that you did not open, contact the security or fraud department of the company holding those accounts. They can help you correct the problem, and closing the accounts will prevent further damage to your credit.

  • File a Report
Report the identity theft to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) online at ftc.gov/idtheft or by calling their Identity Theft Hotline at 1-877-ID-THEFT. Additionally, file a report with your local police department, and if the crime occurred elsewhere, file with that police department as well.
